What We Do
Our programs directly benefit people in Bon Repos, Haiti. We provide child sponsorships, a girls scholar program, university scholarships, adult literacy courses, and business microloans. Our initiatives create a cycle of hope for a new day for these students, parents, and entrepreneurs.

Child Sponsorships
By supporting a child’s education, you’re helping defeat illiteracy, your adding new confidence, your supporting new skills, and your creating new hope.

University Scholarships
The Haiti Youth Education Fund (HYEF) empowers Haitian students to attend a prestigious university in Haiti and helps them realize their dream of higher education.

Girls Scholar Program
The girls in the program will have access to a computer lab, a library, and a multi-purpose classroom through Jou Nouvo’s new community center.

Adult Literacy Courses
Our adult literacy program helps women and men of Bon Repos, Haiti, with fundamental reading and writing skills in Haitian Creole.

Business Microloans
Jou Nouvo facilitates small business microloans in Bon Repos so that individuals can provide for themselves and their families.

About Us
Haiti is the most impoverished country in the world. With a literacy rate less than 53% and 29% of the country living in extreme poverty, many Haitians struggle to improve their livelihoods, even slightly.
More than a decade ago, Kerline Tofuri founded Jou Nouvo to help the people of Bon Repos, her community of origin. With Kerline’s roots and connections, we are able to make a meaningful difference in this community.

The Difference We Make To So Many
We continually experiment. We fail quickly and productively. We use data and feedback to guide our course.
“We’re curious, passionate, and committed to helping nonprofits learn and grow. Oh, and some of us are stage actors and worm farmers on the side.”
