Our mission
It is our mission to deliver whole life improvement to our community in Bon Repos, Haiti. By building a foundation of knowledge, Jou Nouvo provides opportunities for stability and enrichment to bolster hope, empower economic improvement, and create a sense of new certainty.
What We Do
Our goal is focused. We are dedicated to equipping people in one community with education and economic support so they can attain whole-life improvement.
Our programs directly benefit people in Bon Repos, Haiti. We provide child sponsorships, a girls scholar program, university scholarships, adult literacy courses, and business microloans. Our initiatives create a cycle of hope for a new day for these students and entrepreneurs.
Through the spirit of “Konbit” — working together as a team, a tribe, to complete a task until the end — Jou Nouvo partners with individuals to improve their lives and their community.
About Us
Haiti is the most impoverished country in the world. With a literacy rate less than 53% and 29% of the country living in extreme poverty, many Haitians struggle to improve their livelihoods, even slightly.
More than a decade ago, Kerline Tofuri founded Jou Nouvo to help the people of Bon Repos, her community of origin. With Kerline’s roots and connections, we are able to make a meaningful difference in this community.
Through literacy, education, and business development, we bolster hope. Children see a way out of poverty through education and adults gain financial independence as entrepreneurs.
